Another one bites the dust

Well, just when I think things are turning around in the dating world..BAM! It blows up in your face. Ok, not literally, but it sure does feel like it. What is up with guys? I mean, a person goes to big steps to show that you know they are interested...calls everyday..takes you out...cooks you dinner, then poof...disappears! I know this is just another "life lesson", but OMG! What is up with the vanishing act? Do people not have the respect these days to say, look, I'm just not interested, or I think things are going great, but I have too much on my plate to give you the time you deserve. The answer is they don't. Nope. Nada...not so much. I may sound bitter. I'm actually more disappointed. I really liked this one. OH well...maybe it's a sign I'm getting that much closer to the real deal. Someone that will actually want me in thier life. With all the books I've been reading, I'm probably close to being able to being a psychologist...ha!

So, onto the next one...I have a few dates this week. That's right...a few dates. That is the joys of dating....you just get back out there and have fun!!!!

Hello ya'll!

Quick update....

Work is going well. It's totally fast paced, a little stressfull at times, and mind numbing, but I love what I'm doing. There is always a new challenge. For the most part, the people I work with are on board with me now being the boss. It's taking time, but I think I will eventually get there.

The dating situation is turning around to be a positive thing. I had a second date. We are going to see a movie Wednesday night. I really like this one! He is so sweet! I love the fact he gets the biggest smile on his face when he wants to ask me a question. I love the fact that he gets a little shy when he wants to tell me he wants to see me again. I'm having a good time getting to know him. I am amazed of where I'm at now compared to this time last year. It's so awesome to be with someone that is happy...and so far mentally heathly. I haven't heard the Psycho theme go off yet... =)

Ok...I'm giddy!

Ok, I have never been the best at dating. I usually go out, jump in head first, fall knee deep in feelings then get crushed. Well patience, time, and weeding out the psychos may have actually worked. I had a first date, working on the second date. Yes, I know...a second date!!! Novel concept I will have to say! The first date was yesterday. We were both soooo nervous. It felt like I had never gone on a date before. I'm surprised I was able to eat my dinner. Anywho, this guy is wonderful, sweet, down to earth. He has the sweetest smile. Also, he is a man of his word. He told me he would call me this week. Well, he called me a few hours after the date. POINTS! So, yes I'm giddy. I'm ready to do cartwheels. The cute thing is that he says "I'm not a dater". He says "I'm working on that". I told him, it's not easy, but we all have to start somewhere. GOOD! Not a player! He told me that he looks forward to spending more time with me and his nerves will get better...I hope for both of our sakes it does! So, yes, I'm a little excited, still keeping it in check. OH...it helps he likes sports (played baseball in college..what is up with me and guys who have played baseball?) and...fishing! YAY! Ok...I'm going to stop this rambling on...here's hoping there is more to come!

Thanks Brett!

Ok, as many of you may, or may not know, I'm a HUGE sports fan and have played various sports my whole life. One of my favorite players of all time retired from football today. Brett Favre of the Green Bay Packers. Now, yes he is/was an awesome athlete. He has gone through many trials in life. I still remember watching probably one of the most memorable games I have ever seen...his dad just passed away the day before. Brett Favre walked onto that field and played the best game. Everything he threw was golden. There is something about that game that sticks with me today. Watching that game you had a sense that something bigger was him that day. Brett Favre is one of the few people that truly loves the game. You don't find that type of dedication anymore out there. The most important factor is he is a man of character. Honesty. Loyalty. He stood by his wife through her battle with cancer. She told him to go play when he wanted to be by her side. He also showed us, he is not perfect. I recently read an article that he spoke about being human and getting past the addiction to pain medication and alcohol. The man would play with a broken thumb, sprained ankle, just so he could be on that field. The point being is there aren't too many people in sports theses days that people can look up to. I grew up watching him (and yes, drooling everynow and again..the man is HOT!). He is a good guy and come time for another season of football, he will be missed. I will miss watching my "Brett Brett". Thanks for being that role model growing up and displaying what it means to show sportsmanship and being a good person off the field.

Update on the "date"

Ok, from my experiences in the fun world of "dating" there are warning signs I have learned. I did't go out with him. Before I even attempted a new date, something hit me. I was a little "scared" to go out. Yes, being a little nervous, sick to the stomach, sweaty palms, the feeling you might faint, or would rather get a painfull procedure done at the dentist is all normal feelings. I began talking to this new guy (we won't mention his name). Let's just say I'm glad too much information was shared. Long story short, there is a history of physical assult on his part. Granted, he was protecting his sister, but the loud, piercing sirens went off in my head when I heard "Yeah, he's lucky to be alive, I had him in a hold and he couldn't breathe." Now, one may think this was self defense, not so much. This was after his sister left a horrible situation. Some may say, "He is a good guy, give him a chance, he put his sister first and was protecting him" Others may comeback and say "That is violent, he has the capability to truly hurt someone." Then there is the fact he has to take sleep aids and has a history of depression worried me. I have had 2 relationships that depression was present. I learned that a person has to have the "will and want" to try to get better and lead a happy life. Right now I'm in a good place in my life, I don't have to find out. I'm breaking the cycle of the "caretaker". I want a man that is mentally and emotionally healthy. Stability is good. It's amazing what a little time will do, along with a lot of books being read. You learn so much about warning signs and what it is that you truly want. With a little time and patience, who knows, maybe my Prince Charming will come out of the hidden, deep, dark cave that he has been hiding in and sweep me off my feet. Ok, maybe not a cave, but he's hiding somewhere!!! =)

Moving on up!

Today was a great day. I was offered a promotion! It will be in effect Monday. I will be Center Manager. I am so excited! I was humbled to be the #1 pick for the job. It will be challenging and a lot of work, but it will be worth it. I met one goal...to be promoted within 6 months of employment. More importanly, once I find my replacement, it will get me off the road more. YEAH! They aren't wasting any time, I start a week long training next week. Thank goodness it's in KC! My new position will basically oversee that we are in compliance with State and Federal Regulations (blah) and get the location in the black...out of the red. There are so many pieces to this job, I can't name them all. All I know is this...I will have more stablility and I will be faced with new challenges that will make me think. I have missed "using my brain" HA!

On another note...I have another date tomorrow. I'm not saying anything. I'm going to try that route for once and talk about it afterwards! Stay tuned! =)

Been a while

I have been slacking yes. Things have been a little hectic lately. The good thing..the weather was awesome today! Almost flip flop weather. In honor of the warmer weather trying to make its way here is a pic of Sunset Pier and the awesome palm tree on the beach I took when I was in Florida...I wore flip flops....I think I have an obsession with flip flops...ha!
